White water paddle

This paddle is designed to be big, tough and to move water. Great for rivers where moving water is in play and where deep water may be hard to find so you need a wide blade to give you the extra control and power. The paddle has a t-grip to give your thumb something to push up on without slipping. The shaft is solid white ash that is hand shaped and sanded to achieve a solid but smooth feel in your bottom hand. White ash (Fraxinus americana) is a favoured species of hardwood for paddles for many reasons but my favourite is the flexibility it provides.

This is a handcrafted item so everyone is slightly different. General specifications are as follows:

Blade: 5 ply laminated ash, walnut cherry, 8.5" wide by 24" long. Epoxy tip with a partial fiberglass overlay.

Shaft: Ash/basswood

Grip: 5 ply laminated ash, basswood and walnut/cherry.

This is a made-to-order product. Typical fabrication time is four weeks.
